I got an email out of the blue today from somebody claiming to be from shopify. Of course, the two first names set alarm bells off but then suspicions were confirmed later down the line. Just to confirm - is this definitely a scam? And is this new?

Hi @Tomscott8 ,
Yes, it is a scam. No one from Shopify support staff will reach out to you initiating a conversation like they have started in the screenshot.
Thanks
Could you share their email address with us?

Scammers are getting smarter, and these emails can look incredibly real. The best way to stay safe is to double-check sender addresses and avoid clicking suspicious links. Reporting them to Shopify is a great move. Cyber Security Phishing Awareness Training can also help spot red flags before falling for a scam. I’ve started paying more attention to email details, and it really makes a difference.
