The new screen is nice looking, however cumbersome to use.
We often go in to make bulk changes in products that are now out of stock and put them to draft status so it minimizes products that appear in the POS system that are not available.
In the old format…we would drag and highlight the status field on many products, then just type the ‘d’ or ‘ar’ and it would change all the status’ to draft or archived.
On the new screen, you cannot use the keyboard to recognize the value you want.
You have to click the dropdown menu and select the status and when you do it deselects all the products you
selected and only changes ONE product. In addition…you have to use the mouse to select the new status.
This new format makes you use the mouse for everything. IMO…It should have the ability to use either the
mouse or keyboard…like entry screens always have been built. Taking away that flexibility is disappointing.
The fact that it weirdly de-selects all the fields you have just bulk selected for change just highlights the fact
that these new features are not tested significantly to ensure the user has a seamless, smooth experience.
In fact, any screen that has a ‘SAVE’ button, you should be able the press enter and have it save. Not have to just use the mouse. Case in point…the Google Fields screen.
I can fly through that screen using tabs/and pressing the letter on the keyboard with the value I need in the field. For example; for AGE I press ‘I’ for infant, tab to next field and press ‘U’ for unisex, tab to next field and press ‘N’ for new, tab to next field and type in color, then next field and type in material. When done I habitually press ‘ENTER’ to finish…but have to stop and go to the mouse and click on it.
I know this is nit-picky…but with all the hoops we have to go through now to get a product in the system and correctly over to Google, Facebook..etc…these little things save time and make life easier.
In these challenging times…new features are great only if they enhance the users (us small business owners) ability to get to market faster.
