As I recall, there was an option from within the Search Console error to request a review from Google. I submitted that along with an “explanation” and within a couple days they had responded back that all was clear and the error was resolved. Clearly it just seemed to be a glitch of some sort that they were able to rectify immediately.
Topic summary
A website owner encountered a “Deceptive Pages” alert in Google Search Console immediately after launching their new Shopify site, despite no malware being detected and no sample URLs provided by Google.
Resolution Process:
- The issue was resolved by submitting a review request directly through Google Search Console
- An explanation was included with the review request
- Google responded within a couple of days, clearing the alert
- No website modifications were necessary
Key Points:
- The alert appeared unusually early, before pages were even indexed
- The issue appears to have been a false positive or system glitch
- Another user reported encountering similar issues recently with a non-Shopify site
Current Status: Resolved. The discussion remains open with a follow-up question about whether content modifications were needed before requesting the review (answer: no modifications were made).
