I will be starting my second Shopify store soon in a new to me market and seeking customers I have never met before. For my first store, I had organic traffic from being a “known name” in my industry since I had partnered with other brands, creating for them. This time… I am on my own. What I are the best ways to create SEO when trailblazing or creating new products that the marketplace has not seen before? How do I create attention to a fun, novel idea that does not yet have fans or consumers?
Congrats on launching your second store—exciting move! Since you’re entering a new market without an existing audience, building visibility and trust from the ground up will be key. Here are a few ways to start building momentum and strong SEO for a product the market hasn’t seen before:
-
Create Educational Content: If people don’t know your product exists, they won’t be searching for it directly. Focus on content that speaks to the problem your product solves or the lifestyle it fits into. Blog posts, how-to videos, and guides work well here.
-
Target Long-Tail Keywords: Instead of broad, competitive terms, focus on specific keyword phrases that reflect what your potential customers might be searching. Tools like Ubersuggest or Google Trends can reveal useful ideas.
-
Tell Your Story: A novel product grabs more attention when it’s backed by a clear and relatable story. Share the why behind your brand through your site content, social media, and product pages.
-
Get Early Feedback & Reviews: Getting your product into the hands of early adopters or creators who align with your brand can generate valuable user-generated content and social proof—both great for SEO and building trust.
-
Lean into Strategic Partnerships: You’ve already seen how powerful collaborations can be. Consider reaching out to complementary brands or creators in your new space to co-create or cross-promote.
-
Stick to SEO Fundamentals: Even if your concept is new, make sure your site structure, meta titles, descriptions, and alt text are all clean and keyword-aware. This gives search engines what they need to understand and rank your content.
Since you’re breaking new ground, curiosity and education will be your biggest assets. Keep showing up consistently and letting people discover the value of what you’re creating. You’ve built something before—this time you’re just writing a new playbook.
The lesson from your past success applies here: traditional marketing efforts (partnerships, advertising, posting on social media (tiktok, instagram reels, youtube shorts would be my recommendations)).
Once people start typing your brand name into Google, then you’ll see more traction in your SEO efforts. ![]()
