We have been preparing our shop during the last weeks putting in a lot of effort to customize our store and were nearly ready to launch.
Last week we downloaded a new version of our template made available by the developer. In the updated version, nearly all of our customizations got lost and we now need to start over again. To make things worse, the configuration menus are different and it’s not simply a process of searching for a customization feature in the old version and applying it to the new one. Also, some nice features we liked in the old version are not available anymore.
I would like to ask for some feedback from the more experienced members of this community. Does this happen frequently and are there differences between template providers? Ours says it’s normal behavior when “major” updates take place. Do we need to take this into account in general moving forward and if so, any advice on how to minimize the work?
Thanks Theodor. Maybe we were just unlucky that a major update happened exactly at this moment. We will observe how frequently this will happen and in the worst case, change the provider.
It seems like the new template versions being discussed could really enhance customization options for Shopify users! I’m particularly excited about the improvements to responsive design and the streamlined user interface. These updates could potentially make it easier for store owners to create visually stunning and functional websites without needing extensive coding knowledge.
