New theme and design still no conversions

Hi everyone,

I recently launched my store Backyard Pyre, which focuses on modern architectural fire features designed to bring people together outdoors.

My goal with the brand is to create spaces where people can connect around fire and step away from their phones for a while.

I’d really appreciate honest feedback on a few things:

• Overall first impression of the homepage
• Does the site feel trustworthy and professional?
• Is the messaging clear about what we sell?
• Does the store feel high-end / design focused?
• Anything confusing or that could hurt conversions?

There’s some things that I just haven’t been able to figure out how to fix. I went to the “developer” and she gets back to me days later and says she’ll handle it, then comes back with it fixed. Even though I asked her how to make the edits for the simple fact I really dont like, asking for help, I guess she wants all the pie.

Hey @Backyard_Pyre

Here’s the first impression of your website when a customer lands on the homepage:

  1. Broken code as you can see in the attached screenshot

  2. Your header looks too huge for a website.

  3. Uneven pictures size and icons barely visible

  4. Newsletter color not setup properly.

That was just a quick look on your website, it wasn’t even a detailed feedback. I suggest you spend some time on the website so that you know exactly what to focus on and what to improve. Regarding your other developer request, let me know what your exact problem is and I can get this sorted out as well.

Best,
Moeed

HEY @Backyard_Pyre Welcome to Shopify Community so over all your home page it looks great but i have note some points that will help you . so in your home page header is to big as you can see

and also in this section

the alignment of the product must be center and also when i hover it the buttons of the product are not visible and also in view mobile

the text size are so big make it smaller and also the buttons are white background make them visible

and also in mobile view the review section are also not align center

and also in your collection page some images are big and some images are small make it to the proper grid format

that’s it this is my honest review hope you like it

Sometimes it’s actually easier to start fresh with a clean, well-structured store than to keep fixing small issues on an existing site. Otherwise it can turn into an endless cycle of edits and waiting for a developer to make simple changes.

Hi @Backyard_Pyre Make all images consistent sizes expect under special circumstances.
Fix the colors for the product-card hovering or just get rid of all those icons.
Nothing screams luxury like a bunch of UI clutter /s .

Most the problems are a list you should already have had, and listed out in advance in the opening post to avoid repitition.
It’s burning time on obvious issues instead of deeper expertise to get over the feels-luxurious line.

The real design business problem

New theme and design still no conversions

At what point was it anywhere guaranteed by everyone in the world that a new theme means instant free revenue?
If you don’t develop critical self awareness to address such magical thinking you’ll continue to have the kinds problems that no amount of glossy feel good busy work will fix.

Especially when being a middleman.

If your have no budget to fix things then trade time for experience:
Go through this Store Feedback forums until your sick of all the cliches you see then fix your store accordingly.

Your not asking for help, your not asking for typical work, your asking for unpaid training.
Have you bothered to offer to pay for REAL-time training?
That you omit any such offer to the expert always indicates no.
And the expert is probably aware of these behaviors putting you in the bad client priority list.

Even then your not clear on what you mean by “edits”.
If it’s configuring sections plenty of courses on that.
If your asking to be taught how to code and expecting it immediately and for free that’s a problem.

It’s a simple fix to just offer more money to make yourself a premium priority in someone elses life for your own benefit.

I really dont like, asking for help,

Asking someone there opinion on just a single color is asking for help.
Your not asking for help, your asking for work.
Don’t mince words it just disqualifies you from quality client lists while at the same time increasing the chances of getting useless salesy glossy busy work.

Your a business selling fire places , do you want to be a web developer/designer/programmer too.
Good luck with that.
You think the type of customer buying a 4 figure luxury item doesn’t ever ask someone to help hire someone them get the things installed.
Delegate or stay underwater; plenty of devs including myself that merchants with serious budgets can reach out to.

Hi @Backyard_Pyre

Having traffic and no sales typically means that something on your store is deterring buyers. Common problems are unclear value of the product, shipping costs are too high, the checkout process is confusing, there are not enough trust signals, such as reviews or guarantees, or the product images and descriptions are weak. Analyze each stage and run A/B testing on small changes that can increase the conversion rate.

The other replies cover the design issues well so I won’t repeat those.

One thing worth thinking about though - at $1,800-$5,000+ per fire table, nobody is impulse buying these. The buying cycle for something like this is weeks, sometimes months.

Your site might actually work better as a lead gen tool at this price point. Something like a “Request a Quote” or “Book a Consultation” button alongside add-to-cart could lower the barrier a lot. Most people won’t click “buy now” on a $3K item without talking to someone first.

Also, real customer photos and reviews will do more for conversions than any design change. Even 3-4 solid reviews with photos make a huge difference for high-ticket items. If you have past buyers, definitely reach out.

What’s your main traffic source right now?
