New theme editor updates

Not really looking for a solution to anything, just needed to vent and see if anyone else is not crazy about the changes to the theme editor?

I can manage with the top bar changes, but the sidebar changes are really bad. This vertical split into two sections is really frustrating. Because blocks and sections always have different amount of content, there’s often tons of empty space, so I’m always dragging the top section down to be able to view more of that area. But the main thing is, I much prefer going back and forth when clicking into a block or section, instead of it constantly expanding and contracting inside of an already narrow column.

Also, enabling and disabling the full-screen view is really lagging compared to when it was in the previous toggle with the mobile preview. And the overall experience seems much slower than before.

I really don’t see any benefits to any of these updates compared to the way it was before yesterday. Sorry, rant over.

@Andy-Envision Agree. Posted something similar yesterday too. I thought maybe I was just dumb and didn’t know how to use it properly. But based on the very unhelpful responses I got on my post… I guess I wasn’t missing anything and it is just that bad.

I did however just learn that I can resize the editing windows from your post, so thanks for that! I guess it improves the experience :woman_shrugging:

Let me know if you figure out how to collapse it altogether.

I love Shopify, but honestly this unnecessary update feels like someone trying to stay relevant/busy.

No you’re both spot on. It’s like they were drunk and just started playing Musical Settings. I didn’t even like when they moved it to the right side, and then it moved to the left side if Sidekick was open. Like why….

What they ought to do is make them movable like Adobe.
