No Sales After 3 Months – Looking for Advice

Topic summary

A Shopify store owner selling authentic Japanese green tea has received no sales after three months, despite getting around 400 sessions per month. The store (nagomi-greentea.com) features clean design and branding but faces several conversion barriers.

Key Issues Identified:

  • Multiple sold-out products displayed prominently on homepage, creating poor first impression
  • Weak trust signals: few reviews, missing return policies, no security badges
  • Product pages lack compelling benefits, lifestyle images, and clear brewing instructions
  • Poor SEO: missing meta descriptions, H1 tags, and keyword optimization
  • Small, hard-to-see “Add to Cart” buttons that don’t stand out
  • No active marketing campaigns (ads, email, social media)
  • Traffic may include Shopify bot sessions, inflating actual visitor numbers

Recommended Solutions:

  • Hide sold-out items from homepage or enable pre-orders/stock alerts
  • Add trust elements: customer reviews, clear shipping/return policies, security badges
  • Enhance product descriptions with emotional benefits and tea origin stories
  • Improve on-page SEO and start content marketing (blogs about Japanese tea culture)
  • Implement bundle deals and upsell apps to increase average order value
  • Run small, targeted ad campaigns ($5-10/day) on Meta/Instagram focusing on tea enthusiasts and wellness audiences
  • Consider influencer partnerships for higher ROI
  • Make navigation clearer with larger header text and better product quantity visibility

Multiple commenters emphasize that the store has strong potential with its authentic niche and professional design—conversion optimization and targeted marketing are the missing pieces.

Hello everyone,

I recently opened my Shopify store about three months ago, but unfortunately, I haven’t had any sales yet. My store is https://nagomi-greentea.com. Currently, I’m getting around 400 sessions per month.

I would be truly grateful for any advice, suggestions, or feedback you could share—whether it’s about marketing, store design, or anything else that could help me improve.

Thank you so much in advance for your kind support!

What are you doing to get traffic? Who are you targeting?

Don’t forget to disregard these sessions: Every time you edit your store, Shopify bots take a look at the site and create sessions.

I checked your Website and Found Lot of things can be added in the images or on the product page

To increase the Trust

I have worked with the one brand which is similar to yours.

  1. Benefits over Normal Tea
  2. Offers On Bundle
  3. If you have any lifestyle images as well, add those.
  4. UGC videos if other brands are doing in your region then you should also do it.

In term of Facebook ads - You have to keep testing the Angle how this particular Tea can help you…

From one merchant to another, your branding and niche (authentic Japanese green tea) is solid, and the store looks clean. But a few things might be holding back conversions: sold-out products showing, homepage not guiding visitors strongly, and missing urgency/trust signals.

Also, keep in mind Shopify bots can sometimes inflate session numbers, so those ~400 visits might not all be real potential buyers.

If you’d like, I can share the small changes I made on my own store at this stage that helped turn sessions into actual sales, dropping a wall of messages here would be too bulky.

I agree with aditya58singh’s opinion. I also checked your store.
Feel good harmony on the store’s homepage. But with product details you should optimize more:

  • You can add images, videos about the story of that tea product. Maybe real photos of tea harvesting and processing would be even better.
  • Regarding configuration, you can design combo sales, accompanying items.
As for advertising, which platform are you currently advertising on? And what are the optimization options? You can share so that everyone can give feedback.

Hey, I checked out your store and overall it looks very clean and professional. One thing I noticed is the “why” factor isn’t very clear, when someone lands on your site, they should immediately get why your products are worth buying and what makes them special.

SEO is another area that could use some work; even basic meta titles, descriptions, and headings can make a difference in getting organic traffic.

I also saw that you have a slide cart, which is a good start, but it’s not being fully leveraged. You have products that could easily be upsold or bundled, and adding a progress bar can help guide customers and encourage more purchases.

Explore an all-in-one way to optimize the cart and add upsells without installing multiple apps. Tools like iCart can help you set that up naturally and efficiently while keeping the store experience smooth for your customers.

Hi @NAGOMI753

I can give you two suggestions based on store SEO, as your store is indeed very impressive and has a beautiful design, but on the backend, they still need to be improved.

  1. The meta description is missing on Collection page. When I check this page https://nagomi-greentea.com/collections/all on your store, it contains a very short meta title only and has no meta descriptions. A kind suggestion here is, it is better to add the meta description if this page can be indexed by Google, as it will affect the search appearance on Google.

  2. Some pages like Collection or Pages are lack of H1 tag. I wonder if these pages are not crucial on your end, but like what I mentioned in suggestion 1, it is better to settle down the related elements like meta title and meta description, H1 tags, as it will affect indexing result and store SEO performance very much. If without H1 tag, Google will fail to identify your page main title and have a wrong understanding on web pages sometimes.

If you seek for higher rank and better performance when searching by visitors or potential customers, store SEO matters here as well. You can choose to use SEO Check and Content Optimization two features in SEOAnt to further monitor page status, so that you can get the latest feedback when you revise or update pages regularly. Thank you!

Your site has a nice design. From SEO point of view, certain things are missing, such as meta title, meta description, improper use of heading tags. I would suggest work on on-page SEO of your site. Then, start publishing one on-site blog per week. Within a few weeks, you’ll start seeing results. Good luck.

Hi @NAGOMI753

Congratulations on launching your Shopify store nagomi-greentea.com and getting steady traffic of around 400 sessions per month! Here are some tailored suggestions to help improve conversions and start generating sales:

Store Design & User Experience

  • Make sure your homepage and product pages clearly communicate the unique benefits and story of your green tea products. High-quality images, clear descriptions, and simple navigation are key.

  • Add trust signals like customer reviews, quality certifications, secure payment badges, and clear shipping & return policies to build confidence.

Conversion Boosting Tools

  • Use upsell and bundle apps like BiDeal Bundle Volume Discounts to create attractive bundle deals and volume discounts, encouraging customers to add more to their cart.

  • The BiSell Upsell & Cross Sell app can help show personalized product recommendations and targeted upsell pop-ups on product and cart pages to increase average order value.

Marketing & Outreach

  • Leverage social media marketing on platforms popular with your target audience like Instagram or Pinterest, using engaging posts and stories about your products and their benefits.

  • Consider influencer collaborations or micro-influencers for authentic reach.

  • Set up email marketing flows to capture visitors, nurture prospects, and recover abandoned carts.

SEO & Traffic Quality

  • Optimize your product pages with relevant keywords to improve organic search rankings.

  • Review if your traffic sources are well-targeted; attracting visitors interested in green tea rather than general traffic improves conversion likelihood.

Analytics & Testing

  • Use Shopify analytics and Google Analytics to track where visitors drop off in the funnel and test changes like different product descriptions, images, or CTAs.

  • Regularly review data to optimize ad spend and marketing efforts for better ROI.

With consistent improvements using these strategies and the help of apps like BiDeal and BiSell to enhance shopping experience and increase cart size, you should start seeing sales growth soon.

Feel free to ask if you want step-by-step help with app setup or marketing advice!

Thank you so much for your feedback and suggestions. I’ll make sure to work on improving each of the points you mentioned.

By the way, could you recommend any good bundle apps for Shopify that you think would work well for my case?

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your insights. If possible, could you share even just a couple of those changes you mentioned? I’d really appreciate any small tips you can provide.

Thank you for your insight. I haven’t done any advertising yet. I’m planing to do that now. If you have any advice, could please share it?

Hi @NAGOMI753,

Congrats on launching your store, that’s already a big step! I had a look at your site and here are a few practical things you can try:

  1. Traffic quality
400 sessions a month is a start, but the key is who is visiting. Are they tea lovers, or just random clicks? Try running a small FB/IG ad targeting people interested in Japanese tea or wellness. Even $5–10 a day can bring more relevant visitors.

  2. First impression
Your homepage should immediately answer: Why should I buy tea from here and not Amazon or the supermarket? A clear headline, a short story about your brand, and a strong image of the product can help a lot.

  3. Product pages
Add more benefits-focused descriptions. Instead of just “Green tea 100g,” talk about how it tastes, health benefits, and why it’s unique. Include lifestyle images if possible.

  4. Trust factors
Customers are cautious with new stores. Add reviews (even from friends who tried it), clear shipping info, and a return policy. These small signals build trust.

  5. Conversions
Test one simple incentive like free shipping over $30 or 10% off your first order. Sometimes people just need that little nudge to buy.

It takes time to build momentum, but small tweaks can snowball into your first sales. Don’t get discouraged, most stores take a few months to really start seeing consistent orders.

Hi,

Lots of great advice has already been shared, but let me add my five cents:

It’s great that you’re optimizing your store for search engines. However, these days it’s just as important to adapt for AI search algorithms. More and more customers are starting their product discovery through tools like ChatGPT or other AI assistants. Investing some time into this can really pay off.

Also, it’s crucial to understand where customers drop off. Tools like Google Analytics 4 or Hotjar can give you valuable insights into user behavior and help you improve the shopping experience.

Hope it helps.

Best regards,

Exactly, you sure are right

@NAGOMI753 thanks for sharing your store! Getting 400 sessions per month shows people are finding you, but the key is improving conversions. I’d suggest working on product page optimization (clear value, trust signals, reviews), speeding up the site, and adding more engaging content. At the same time, test paid traffic (Google Shopping, Meta ads) and email capture so you’re not only relying on organic visitors. With the right tweaks, you’ll start seeing sales soon!

Hi @NAGOMI753

First of all congrats on opening new store . Now,

what’s stopping your Shopify green tea store from making sales, and how to fix it:

  1. Most products are marked “sold out,” creating a poor first impression and limiting buying options.
  2. Trust signals are weak: Very few visible customer reviews, missing return/refund policies, and no security or trust badges.
  3. Product pages need upgrades: More brewing instructions, lifestyle images, and clear size/quantity info would help.
  4. No active email or social media marketing, and little educational content about green tea or your unique story.

Quick wins:

  1. Restock products and let customers pre-order or sign up for stock alerts.
  2. Make trust elements (policies, secure checkout badges, service contact) obvious.
  3. Add detailed instructions and more photos on every product.
  4. Start gathering and displaying more reviews and customer stories.
  5. Launch basic email and Instagram/Facebook marketing focused on education, Japanese tea culture, and your organic story.

Addressing these points should quickly increase shop trust and turn visitors into buyers

Hey @NAGOMI753

It looks really clean and professional! Three months in with 400 sessions/month is actually a good start, so don’t get discouraged. A couple of things that usually help early on: focus on building trust (social proof, reviews, clear shipping info) and test different traffic sources like TikTok or Meta ads to see where your audience engages most.

Also, consider working with a fulfillment partner that can help you optimize shipping times and product sourcing. For example, some people use services like USAdrop to streamline that side so they can focus more on marketing and brand-building.

Keep testing and tweaking, it’s all about small improvements that add up over time!

Best,
Moeed

Hi NAGOMI753,

It’s great that you are getting 400 sessions a month.

One of the main reasons you probably are not getting sales is because your on page SEO is probably targeting the wrong keywords.

I hope you have an SEO strategy in place.

If you don’t, make a list of keywords you want to target. Add them to your product pages, home page, etc. When you do this, you will target the exact search queries (keywords) for your products.

Check Search Console as well for detailed insights. It will tell you what search queries are triggering the clicks (or sessions). And from this you will know exactly if you need to change the keywords on your website.

Next, I really recommend running Google Shopping Ads. Let me know if you are interested in this, and I can help you further.

Hope this helps.

Beautiful website! I have practical advice you can implement within 20 minutes and improve your first page:
Why show Sold-outs at your homepage at all? Create automated (smart) collection called Featured products, where you can list all products that inventory > 0, AND when you have more products you can list only “tag equals featured”. Then you go to your Theme settings - homepage and choose collection to be displayed at the homepage “featured collection”. From that moment you won’t have sold out listed at your homepage.

Hope this helps!
