No sales

here is the link to my website https://petpalaccessories.com/

Hi everyone,

I’ve been running my Shopify store in the dog grooming and pet care niche for a little over 6 months now, and despite consistently promoting it, I’ve yet to make a single sale.

I’ve tried a few things:

  • Targeting UK-based dog owners via Facebook & Instagram ads

  • Using carousel ads showcasing different pet care products

  • Offering discounts for orders over £89.99

  • Highlighting benefits like comfort, safety, and play for dogs

  • Posting regularly on social media and trying to engage organically

Still, nothing has really clicked — and I feel stuck.

Would anyone be willing to take a look at my store and give me some honest, no-holds-barred feedback? :folded_hands:

I’d really love to know:

  • What am I doing well (if anything)?

  • What areas clearly need improvement?

  • Does the site feel trustworthy and easy to shop?

  • Is it clear who the products are for and what problems they solve?

Any tips on marketing, conversion, or even copy/design would mean a lot.

Thank you so much to anyone who takes the time — I’m open to learning and improving! :yellow_heart:

Hi there @Petpala Here are some points I believe can be helpful in improving the store

  1. You should add a section for best selling products on the homepage in addition to the latest arrivals section.

  2. A short video showcasing a few of your products in high quality would be a very nice addition as well

  3. You should re-organize the customer reviews on the homepage to make it look more appealing and convincing.

HI @Petpala ,

Thanks for reaching out to the Shopify Community! I’m Mia from MooseDesk, your go-to Live Chat, WhatsApp and FAQ App here to help enhance your customer support experience

Firstly, congratulations on your new store. Your site effectively communicates its focus on high-quality pet accessories with a diverse range of products caters to various pet needs. However, it should need some enhancement in term of design to enhance the sales, please kindly check it

1. Revise Hero Section

I can see your current hero image lack of a tagline. Consider to add a clear, compelling tagline to tells users why they should care and what makes your brand different. For example: “Style & comfort for your furry best friend.” or “Where pet fashion meets everyday function.” This will instantly connect with visitors and help them understand your brand at a glance.

2. Organize Product Grid Section

Consider to improve this “Hot Selling Product” section to make it more visually engaging and conversion-friendly. You can change the heading to

Bestsellers Pet Parents Love or Top Trending Picks for Your Pet, also make the heading larger or bolder to stand out more.

Consider to add hover effects like zoom-in on image, “Add to Cart” button reveal, or quick view to catch attention

3. Add Trust Badge Section to your HomePage

Currently your site lack of visual reassurance for things like secure checkout, fast shipping, or money-back guarantees, which are often the last push needed for hesitant buyers to complete a purchase. Consider to add trust badges help to reduce buyer anxiety and increase conversion rates by showing customers that your store is safe, reliable, and customer-friendly

4. Add Live Chat to your store

I noticed you already have a live chat widget on your site — that’s a great start! It shows you’re prioritizing customer support, which is key for building trust and improving conversions. However, if you’re looking to take your support to the next level, I suggest exploring MooseDesk, a FREE Live Chat, WhatsApp & FAQ App. You can easily reach customer support via WhatsApp, ensuring immediate assistance for inquiries. Also, the widget provide multi self-Service options such as Order tracking, Translation and FAQ section empower customers to resolve common questions on their own, reducing the need for direct support.

Hi @Petpala . Thanks for reaching out to the community. It’s Tracy from BON Loyalty, the essential loyalty app for Shopify businesses.

I had a look at your website, and it’s quite impressive. However, I have several recommendations for you to improve from the perspective of a product developer and a customer.

1. Replace hero banner with more attractive one and clear tagline

Your homepage should clearly showcase your unique value through a strong tagline and engaging content around hero banner. To achieve this, it’s essential to highlight how your offering solves customers’ problems in a way that sets you apart from the competition with a clear Call-to-action such as “Explore our products”.

2. Display the company name and logo prominently in the top left corner of the homepage
It’s the best practice to place the company logo in the top-left corner of the homepage, as that’s where users typically expected to find it. Avoid using centered logos, and ensure your logo stands out clearly from other elements on the page.

3. Showcase clear return and shipping policies

The top reason for cart abandonment is unexpected shipping or tax costs. Flexible return policies and affordable shipping fees can boost conversion rates by reducing the risk for buyers and motivating them to finalize their purchase. Transparent shipping rates simplify the e-commerce experience and provide clear expectations, so shipping information should be clearly included in your product page.

4. Keeping category descriptions brief and showcase products on top

Research indicates that when text online is too long, most people don’t read it. Moreover, the top portion of a page serves as a focal point for navigation and key information, making it the most noticeable and important area to capture attention. So I recommend you to shorten the category descriptions and move your products to the top of the page, where you left a significant amount of unused white space there.

I hope you find my suggestions are helpful! Keep up your spirit and passion for your store. Good luck!

Best,
Tracy

Hi @Petpala ,

I’ve taken a thorough look at your petpalaccessories.com store, and I want to offer some candid feedback on why you might not be seeing sales despite your 6-month effort.

Initial Impressions:

The site’s visual design is significantly holding you back in the competitive pet accessories market. Pet owners often view their animals as family members and expect a shopping experience that reflects the premium, caring nature they seek for their companions. Here’s what I’m seeing:

  1. Underwhelming homepage design: The current layout lacks visual hierarchy and emotional appeal. There’s no compelling hero section that connects with pet owners’ love for their animals or clearly communicates your unique value proposition.

  2. Product presentation issues:

    • Color options are hidden in basic dropdown menus rather than being visually displayed
    • Product cards don’t create enough excitement or effectively showcase the benefits for pets
    • The overall presentation doesn’t match the premium feel that pet owners often look for
  3. Trust elements need enhancement:

    • While you have a review section, getting those first reviews is crucial for social proof
    • Your brand story and unique selling proposition could be more prominently featured
    • More emphasis on your expertise in the pet care space would help build credibility
  4. Content strategy gaps:

    • Limited educational content about pet care and grooming
    • Missing SEO-optimized content that could bring in organic traffic from pet owners searching for solutions
    • Opportunity to establish yourself as a knowledgeable resource in the pet space

Recommendations:

  1. Transform your visual presentation with Tapita Theme Sections Builder. This free app would allow you to:

    • Create engaging hero sections with emotional pet imagery
    • Add testimonial sections formatted to encourage reviews
    • Feature benefit-focused content sections highlighting how products improve pets’ lives
    • Implement trust badges and policy highlights in strategic locations
  2. Upgrade your product option display with G: Combined Listings & Variant to:

    • Replace basic dropdowns with visual color swatches that let customers see options instantly
    • Allow customers to preview different variants right from collection pages
    • Create a more engaging shopping experience that pet owners expect from quality brands
  3. Build credibility and attract organic traffic with Tapita AI SEO Blog Builder:

    • Create professional, SEO-optimized blog posts about pet grooming and care topics
    • Develop content that targets keywords potential customers are searching for
    • Build a content library that establishes your expertise and drives organic traffic
    • Save time with AI-generated content that you can customize to match your brand voice
  4. Optimize for search engines with Tapita SEO & Speed Optimizer to:

    • Improve your site’s loading speed (crucial for mobile users)
    • Enhance product structured data for better search visibility
    • Fix any technical SEO issues hindering your visibility

The pet accessories market is extremely competitive but also very loyal when you connect with customers emotionally. Your current marketing efforts in the UK market show you’re targeting the right audience, but your website needs to better reinforce your credibility and create a more engaging shopping experience.

The good news is you can start implementing these changes with minimal investment using the free plans of these apps.
