Non-www domains directing to Primary domain?

Topic summary

A merchant is managing multiple country-specific domains (allcam.nl, allcam.be, allcam.fr) with www versions set as primary for each market.

The Issue:

  • In browsers, non-www versions correctly redirect to their corresponding www versions (e.g., allcam.be → www.allcam.be)
  • However, Shopify’s backend dashboard shows all non-www domains redirecting to a single primary domain (www.allcam.nl)
  • This creates confusion about whether the setup is correct

Current Configuration:

  • Markets feature is enabled
  • Different domains are connected to their corresponding countries
  • Frontend behavior appears correct (www.allcam.fr stays on www.allcam.fr when visited)

Concern:
The discrepancy between Shopify’s backend display and actual frontend behavior is causing uncertainty about potential SEO or technical issues, despite the domains functioning correctly in practice.

Hi there! We have a bunch of domains targeting specific countries (e.g. www.allcam.nl for the Netherlands and www.allcam.be for Belgium). We use the www versions as primary and visible domains and the non-www domains redirect correctly to the www versions when I check it in a browser.

However in Shopify the non-www domains all seem to direct to only one Primary domain: www.allcam.nl (screenshot attached). Is this set up correctly or should I be concerned? Shouldn’t for example allcam.be redirect to www.allcam.be, and not to www.allcam.nl?

Thanks for any help!

Hi Josh, thank you for your reply. I have turned on markets and connected the different domains to the corresponding countries. I also don’t see anything strange on the websites, when I go to www.allcam.fr I stay on www.allcam.fr. The only thing I’m worried about is why Shopify in the backend shows that the different domains lead to our primary domain www.allcam.nl, while in practice it doesn’t seem to do so.
