Not able to use the test store of my app

Hi,

Since our app went live, we are not able to use the test store anymore.

We get the red message “The shop cannot accept the provided charge”.

Is there a way to fix this, without having to write backend coding tricks which would bypass the payment request?

I expect and believe that there should be an “out of the box” way of using a test store and test our app at anytime.

Help really appreciated!

Building a method into your app to account for a test shop feels like the correct path to me. Many apps use the plan type - such as dev shops - to allow for free use.

Thanks for the reply Jason!
Again, just stupefied, how Shopify does not provide for it out of the box. Such a basic need for every app out there!
By default, anytime I need to test my live Shopify app, I need to create a new fake temporary Shopify store, and enter the payment info.
Unless I’m missing something..?

As @Jason mentioned, most live public apps fire test charges using the plan type. Since many partners design dev stores for merchants, there is also the added benefit that once the store goes live, apps installed on these stores can create real app charges. Making your app free for dev stores also gets your app featured on the Partner-friendly app list as well.
