One item added to cart shows as 500 items in cart!

Okay, I need some help. I have just launched my site and when practicing ordering an item, the cart shows 500 items, but the correct amount. If two items are added, it says 1000 items are in the cart, but the correct amount.

Hi Staci!

I had a look at your store (love it by the way!) and I was able to add a product to my cart without issue. You should be able to see it in the abandoned cart section of your store admin. I was able to move to the first stage of the checkout with it only tracking 1 product the entire way.

Are you able to share some more details about your setup, what device you are using, your internet browser, etc, so we can see if we can replicate it on our end? I would also ask that you do a cache and cookie clear in your browser and attempt on another device (tablet, smartphone, laptop) to see if it persists.

Thanks for replying so quickly - and I appreciate the compliment on the site. I’m glad you didn’t have a problem…whew. I cleared my cache (and cookies) before you suggested it and after as well. I’m using Chrome with a laptop. I just tried it again, and even though the amount is correct it, it says “You have 500 item(s) in your cart:” but then only shows the info for one item. ARGH! I just tried it using my Galaxy phone. Plain as day it says I have 500 items in my cart. Dang it!

Thank you for the screenshot. I took a look again on my end and I am still not able to replicate the same issue. One thing I did notice though is that the cart page looks different for me. Your screenshot shows a couple of drop down fields to check for shipping eligibility. I don’t have that option on my end.

If you are using a Shopify made theme I would reach out to our live support channels for some additional troubleshooting on this. If you are using a third party theme, it might be worthwhile to connect with the theme developers to find out what is causing the issue.
