Is there a way to create several SKUs for one product? and no, unfortunately I don’t think bundling is an option, cause I want to customer to choose just 1 product.
I’ll explain:
I’m selling modular sofa with changeable covers. Each sofa is built from a base unit and covers.
If someone will order a 2 seater, he will get 2 base units and 2 covers.
My inventory consists of 2 base units (grey and blue), and 6 covers.
On my shop, the customer can choose one of 3 products: 1-seater, 2-seater or 3-seater.
inside the product page, he need to choose base color (1 of 2), and cover color (1 of 6).
Right now i have a different SKU for each variant. For example, 2-seater with blue base and pink cover is a specific SKU.
What I need:
Different SKU for:
blue base
grey base
each cover
This way I will have a “Pull” of units and covers, and each order is consists of this SKUs.
So if for example someone orders the product “2-seater with blue base and pink cover”, I will get an order for:
2 blue bases
2 pink covers
Is there any app that can help me with this kind of inventory management? or is there an app that allow me to create kits that only the admin can see?
Happy to help out today. Just confirm, I’d like to ensure we are on the same page here so that I can recommend some apps that will fit your exact needs.
By the sounds of it, you want an app that allows customers to land on a product page, and have a couple configurations to make (variants) such as the base color, and cover colors. And to correlate the number of bases and covers based on it being a 1 seater, 2 seater, 3 seater, etc.
With that said, I’d recommend checking out the following apps, as they offer customizable SKU policies so that the product (bundle) has a set of individual components (variants) that have their own unique SKUs and inventory counts.
A common way our users set up these type of bundles is to make an option represent the color and then you bundle up all the variation option with the components.
For example:
Option 1 - Base Color
Option 2 - Cover Color
When both options are selected the product that is added to checkout will be a virtual product that contains all components you have preconfigured in our app. The buyer doesn’t see all the components in cart but rather just one product.
Our bundle app will let you bundle up the SKUs and we then update their inventory based on the component stock level. So in above example if stock of a component goes to zero the bundle will show as out of stock. We also update all bundle inventories if a component is reduced so you can add same component to multiple bundles.
We also have the additional option of unbundling orders made for a bundled product into the component SKUs post purchase. This way the order lines are only for components and can be fulfilled as per normal. This also keeps your inventory correct.
