one product from different SKUs – limiting possible variants

hello!

we are selling a bed wich always consists out of three different SKUs: a frame (1 out 4 sizes), upholstered headboard (1 out of 4 sizes), and fabric uphosltery covers (1 out of 4 sizes and 7 colors). customers can choose a bed from 4 sizes and 7 fabric colors → 28 variants in total.

now migrating to shopify:

we created a variant product for each (frame, headboard, fabric) which we hided from the storefront. then creating a bundle with all three. but we did not find a bundle app or such which allows limiting down to the 28 variants (combining a 140 cm frame with a 180 cm headboard makes no sense and needs to be excluded).

what app provides a solotions for this?

ps: ideally the longest shipping time of either one (frame, headboard or fabric) will be automatically picked and shown at storefront.

thanks!

Hi Jannis,

Have you checked the app Shopify Bundles? It can help you with limiting down the 28 variants to really specify what products will be sold on the bundle.

As for the longest shipping time of either one being shown at storefront, you’ll need to edit your theme’s code in order for it to be shown.

Let me know if you have any questions! Would be happy to answer them! :slightly_smiling_face: :+1:

Hi @jannis_e ,

I understand your requirements here, this can be done using our app called Profit bundles. Please try out our app.

We also offer free 1:1 Google meet with our in-house experts they could be able to answer all your queries live on the call.

hi paulmartin,

thanks for your reply! we tried shopify bundle app before, but it shows the variants of all in the storefront, so customer needs to select a size for the frame plus a size for the headboard. but sure we want to have customers select the bed size only once and not for all single SKUs… further the app does not allow more than 100 variants, even though if i delete variants in produkts…

Hi @jannis_e

In Shopify Bundle app, you can limit the choices of the customer.

For example, in this bundle I created, they can choose the size of the onesie, but they cannot choose what colour they’ll get because I’ve set it to just “Dream”. As for Portble Chargin Mat, they cannot choose the other variants because I’ve limited it to just the “Dream” variant.

As for the result in the product page, this is what they see:

They are only allowed to choose the size of the onesie, but they’ll get the products in the bundle:

  • Onesie-Dream (Size of choice)
  • Rattle
  • Portble Chargin Mat-Dream

Hope this clears up on the first problem you had with Shopify Bundles.

As for 100-variant limit, yeah, unfortunately there is no way to bypass that inside Shopify Bundles. You’ll have to use a different bundling app if you have a bundle whose variant total surpasses 100.

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any questions if you have any! :slightly_smiling_face: :+1:
