Open orders should not include returns

If I have one open order in my store, and 10 orders in a state of “Return in progress”, then my Orders count in the left nav and on my mobile app icon count should be 1, not 11.

When I glance at the icon count on my Shopify app on my mobile phone I want to know how many orders need to be shipped. I absolutely don’t care to constantly monitor the number of returns in progress. Those can take weeks to resolve depending on how quickly the customer sends the return back.

Please remove orders in the state of “Return in progress” from the count of “Orders”.

Hello there @stevenchalmers
The number of orders can be confusing when returns are treated as fulfilment tasks. A good way around this is to create saved views/filters in the Orders section to separate active fulfillment orders and returns in progress. Let that keep your daily flow focused on orders needing your attention, while returns are tracked separately. A more clear distinction between these two states would also enable a more efficient operation on the merchants’ side.

Hey @stevenchalmers

Hope you’re doing well!

This makes sense. A separate badge for returns, or an option to exclude [Return in progress] orders from order counts would provide a much clearer workflow for merchants.

It is not confusing at all. It is simply wrong. Certainly there are work arounds. My point t is it should be fixed to correctly display the count of orders that need to be shipped.
