hi everyone. I’m in an eco-conscious market space, and want to keep packaging per product as low as possible, but still offer flexibility as the products are often bought as gifts as well as for own use.
Currently on one site I have the packaging options set up as variants - eg, Each product can be purchased:
variant 1: No label.
variant 2: Paper band label.
variant 3: Full retail box packaging.
…which requires each of those variants to be stocked individually. That is fine on that store as the product range is fairly fixed and I do not run out of particular designs, so potentially listing three times the actual product stock level isn’t really a problem.
However, my new site relies on low stock numbers with fast turnover of designs, and I cannot risk listing the 10 pieces I have of one design three times against all those variants and overselling, or splitting the stock between the three and constantly having to adjust.
I need a tool where I can offer people the packaging option on each product, but have ONE stock level against the product.
I’ve tried a couple of add-on apps, but they treat the add-on as a separate item and don’t attach the add-on to the product at checkout, so if someone buys five items and wants two packaged and three unpackaged, I can’t tell which is to be packaged and which not.
Any suggestions please? this can’t be an uncommon issues surely?
