I would like to take payments with ORANGE MONEY (MOBILE PAYMENTS) in West Africa. I will appreciate your help.

Shopify doesn’t include Orange Money out of the box, so you’ll need a gateway that supports it and plugs into Shopify’s checkout. Your main options are:

1. CinetPay

  • Supports Orange Money (plus MTN, Moov) across 10+ West and Central African markets.

  • Install their Shopify app or embed their payment widget in your theme.

  • Customers complete payment on CinetPay’s hosted page, then return to Shopify to finalize the order.

2. PayDunya (Senegal only)

  • Lets you accept Orange Money, Wari and card payments via a hosted checkout.
  • Use their JavaScript snippet on your Shopify checkout or as a “Pay Now” button on the cart page.

3. Manual “Orange Money” payment method

  • In Settings → Payments → Manual payment methods, add “Orange Money.”
  • Provide instructions for customers to send money to your Orange account and email their transaction code.
  • Then capture the order and mark it fulfilled once you confirm receipt. No plugin required, but it’s offline.

4. Custom gateway on Shopify Plus

  • If you’re on Plus, build a fully integrated gateway with the Hosted Payment SDK tied to an aggregator like MFS Africa.
  • You’ll need a developer to implement the API and handle callbacks.

I would say if you’re on Basic/Standard, the simplest integrated approach is CinetPay’s app. It handles the API, compliance and returns customers to Shopify at checkout. Otherwise, the manual method is free and gives you full control, though it requires you to verify and fulfill orders by hand.
