Order Confirmation E-Mail is sent in the wrong language

Hi all,

I have a shop that is currently in French, German and Luxembourgish. Everything is translated using the built-in Translate App.

Now, the problem is that for some reason, once a customer makes an order using the luxembourish language (even the cart and order details are in luxembourgish), he gets the confirmation E-mail in French. Doing the same test when the customer has the german language set the E-mail is also in german, so there it works.

Do you have any idea what the problem could be? The translation itself is exactly the same as the two other languages, just “lb” set inside the code and some translated sentences.

Thanks a lot!

Hi Luxfarmer, Shopify only fully supports a limited set of languages for transactional emails. These include en, fr, de, es, etc., but not lb (Luxembourgish), which explains the fallback. Therefore, i would suggest If Shopify doesn’t support lb for emails yet:

  • Use German or French as a fallback until support improves.

  • Consider reaching out to Shopify support to log this as a feature request — the more people report it, the higher the chances it will be supported natively.
