Hello! Is there any report or way to create a custom report that essentially is the csv order export file but also includes a ‘first time order’ flag indicating if an order was placed by a first-time customer?
And also, if I retroactively pull this file and the first-time customer has since placed subsequent orders, is there a way that the FIRST order they placed will still be marked as “first-time” customer order?
The csv order export is fixed and does not allow customization. There are a lot of apps that will allow you to create custom reports that can be exported, emailed etc.
Hello! thanks for your response.
In the First-time vs. returning customer sales report, if I pull this
report today to show data from a Jan 2022-Dec 2022 timeframe, will a
customer who placed their first order in 2022 but has since placed an order
in Jan 2023 show up as first-time or recurring? Or does the report show
each order that a customer placed and the first order they placed is shown
as first-time and the 2nd order they placed shows as recurring?

Hi @SLM-Test
Claudia here from Better Reports.
I would recommend our app Better Reports for this.
We can recreate the order export including the customer type. The ‘first-time’ customer type is applied to a customer’s first order. Thus if we create this report for last year, the first orders will still show ‘first-time’ even if the customers are now ‘returning’.
In addition to this, Better Reports has more than 60 built-in reports available out of the box that cover many common use cases for merchants. You can schedule reports to run at set frequencies to your email or Google Drive or export the reports in CSV, Excel or PDF format.
I encourage you to install Better Reports and start your free 14-day trial and I’ll be happy to set this up for you.
