Today I got an order from switerland. The normal $ on the order are labeled CHF which is the swiss franc. The issue is it shows the totals just as if they were in dollars. So if my item was normally $5.00 it shows as CHF 5.00. The thing is that the swiss franc is not pegged to the dollar. One franc is worth $1.13 USD. They paid through paypal and payal has the same figures. I guess it would benefit me, but clearly something is not right. Can anyone offer clarity??
I just spent a couple hours trying to figure this out. Shopify has got something screwy going on with the currency conversions and the way it is shown and reported on the hard copy of the order. In my case it looks like I am going to get $12 more than I should because of some miscalculation. I don’t understand it, and I do not think they do either. I just suggest if you are getting orders in foreign currencies you check them carefully. You could be losing money depending on exchange rate.
Did you ever get any resolution on this? I am experiencing a nightmare trying to get their conversion rates to make sense with my accounting too. On top of it all, I had thought I had opted out of this international market option! I am really frustrated with the unasked for “help” selling internationally. Everything was working beautifully before.
I have not been checking the recent or conversion rates. Seemed like it had
been fixed a while ago, but now you have me wondering if I should start
checking them again..
