We’re having an issue with the {{order_number}} variable, sometimes it’s the checkout id rather than the order reference number,

What we need to know is how can we work around this, we use the order number for tracking on marketing channels and currently these are not easy to validate without lots of admin,
Is there a way in which we can ensure that the order_number captured is always the reference number for the order and not the checkout id?
Or alternatively is there anything in the roadmap to help solve the issues with load on the database?
