Why has the Shopify ORDER PRINTER app been changed to show a country code for each of the 4 countries of the United Kingdom? It’s obviously some developer who thinks they are being clever and helpful!
It appears to work on deciding which country the address is from based on postcode. Obviously a developer with no idea of the United Kingdom. If they did, they’d know that postcodes cross country boundaries within the UK. They are purely post codes for Royal Mail delivery areas. They are not political/state boundaries! An example of this is that Hay-on-Wye is a Welsh town (in Wales) but has a Hereford postcode (in England).
Secondly, I have only seen the ENG for England and WLS for Wales. My assumption of course, the code WLS is meaningless to anyone in the UK. WLS is not used in any mode of life as an abbreviation for Wales. Either you use WAL or CYM (Short for Cymru, which is Wales in the Welsh language.).
So Shopify, please take out this software feature in the app. It doesn’t work for the UK, even if the developer thinks it does. It is going to cause issues with shipping addresses in actual shipping terms.
