Order Status Page - File Not Foud

Hi There,

Earlier today I followed the advice on my admin dashboard to update my customer account domain to show account.mydomain.co.uk (where mydomain is my website address).

In admin under Domains it says everything is connected correctly and the DNS records are correct.

However, when I click ‘view order status’ on any order it take me to a page the simply says ‘File Not Found’. And not like a regular 404 error page just the a plain white page with the File not found text (See below)

Has anyone else experience this when setting up the new Customer Account domain..?

try removing and adding the domain again. Sometimes it shows connected but still issue persists. If still its not working out without wasting any time connect with shopify support chat

Hey @Mick_Smith This issue happens when the customer accounts subdomain is connected, but not properly assigned inside Shopify’s Customer Accounts settings.
So you can do this steps:
1.Set correct Customer Accounts domain then

First you go to Shopify Admin and then Settings and lastly in Customer accounts
and make sure account.mydomain.co.uk is selected as the primary accounts domain

2.Re-check domain connection

Settings then Domains
Open your account.mydomain.co.uk
Confirm it says Connected to Customer Accounts “not just “connected””.

3.Fix DNS if you needed

Ensure account subdomain has correct CNAME pointing to Shopify and Remove any conflicting a record

4.Lastly Check
Allow a few hours for propagation and your Test: mydomain.co.uk - mydomain Resources and Information.
Thank you.

Hi @Wsp @mastroke

Thank you for the help so far.

I have reset everything and started from scratch and I still have the same issue.

Below is a screenshot of my DNS record on my host cpanel.

cname record

Then below is the overview of my domains in Shopify.

And finally the image below is what I see when I click in to the Customer Account above.

Everything suggests it is set up right, but I still get the file not found error.

@Mick_Smith

I understand the issue.

Based on what you shared, it appears that DNS is correctly set up, so this is likely not a DNS issue anymore.

The “File Not Found” error usually happens when there is a routing or configuration issue with the customer account domain setup.

Please double check the following:

Shopify Admin and then Settings and after this go to Customer Accounts and in lastly ensure account.mydomain.co.uk is selected as the primary domain
Settings then Domains and then confirm the domain status is fully active and properly connected
Allow a few hours after any recent changes for propagation to complete

If everything is already correct the issue may be related to Shopify side configuration or domain routing.

I’ll help you further if it still doesn’t work.

Hi @Wsp

Thankyou so much for the help, I really do appreciate it. Below is what it shows on the Customer Accounts page in admin > settings >customer accounts

I’m guessing I might just need to wait a while longer for it to propagate..?

Also, just for my own sanity, I don’t need to add the domain on the page below at my cpanel, right..?

@Mick_Smith Thanks for the update and for sharing the screenshot.

Yes at this stage it may be related to a propagation or caching delay as these changes can sometimes take a little time to fully reflect across all systems. Regarding cPanel you do not need to add or change anything there for this setup, as long as your DNS records (A/CNAME) are correctly pointing to Shopify. The subdomain setup inside Shopify is what mainly handles the Customer Accounts connection. I would suggest waiting a bit longer (up to 24 hours) and then testing again.

If it still doesn’t work after that we can take a deeper look.

Hi @Wsp

Just to let you know all is working now, thank you so much for all your help.

@Mick_Smith Oh nice … My pleasure
