Order Tags: Add tags automatically to products?

We conduct business in several different local cities as we host youth sports camps. Since we rent space in several cities, we have business licenses for each city. Occasionally, the cities will ask for us to pull receipts to renew our business license and when I sort through the orders and type in a key word. Sometimes orders from different cities pop up because they might have a description that has both cities. Anyways, blah blah.

How can I get those order tags to automatically populate for the different products that are located in those specific cities? I have to click into each order>scroll down>enter order tag

Example:

Product: Soccer, Carlsbad, CA 4/10-4/14 (tagged with Carlsbad, Soccer)

Order: Soccer, Carlsbad, CA 4/10-4/14 (no order tag)

If I can get this to do it automatically, then I can just filter the orders by tag for Carlsbad, Oceanside, Encinitas.

I posted pictures of what it does now. I have it tagged on the product level (Carlsbad), then the order level with no tag as it does now unless I manually enter the tag (Carlsbad). I would like to be able to filter the orders by tags.

oh sorry that not possible

Hi @Dgoldfe13 ,

This can be achieved using custom app only.

Let me know if you are interested in.

Hi @Dgoldfe13 ,

I think that you could achieve your goal with Shopify flow. Basically, you create a flow that triggers when an order is paid (in your case) and the flow will automatically assign a tag to that order.

You can also run the flow automation for your past orders, but you need to select the orders manually and then run the automation for the orders (not a big deal).

When exporting your orders, there is one column called “Tags”. So then, you can play with the CSV and filter out only the relevant cities.

Here’s a very basic example of how the flow could look like. Of course, you need to set up the conditions for all your locations (just adding more condition branches for other locations). See the screenshot below.

Hope this is what you’re looking for! Let me know if you have any more questions.

@Dgoldfe13 it sounds like the solution from Niki_K should work, I would try that first. If it doesn’t, or you need more control / options, Order Automator does this (and can be extended with additional functionality).

How can I do this? I am no coder or magician. ha

Hi @Dgoldfe13 ,

you need to install Shopify Flow app to your store. Then, I recommend going through this guide on how to set up Shopify flow (learn about the triggers, conditions and actions).

If you struggle setting it up, get back to me in PM. Thanks!
