Our website used to have a pop up window that would show what was in your cart when you would hit “add to cart” or “buy now”. Without any alterations to our code, the website now only directs to the check out page instead of that pop up. We are using the theme Local. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you are referring to a cart drawer? For example:
Since this theme is developed by a third-party. I would check with their support team/documentation to see if there is a setting within the theme that you can toggle to switch back to a cart drawer format. Their support documentation can be found here. It looks like when you go into the theme editor. You can head into the general settings and toggle the cart between modal and drawer.
