I am still a novice to this stuff and would highly appreciate someone’s help on creating a simple landing page with a message indicating a temporary stop on orders and deliveries. The page would also need to include a ‘continue’ button to go to the storefront itself. Please let me know my options. Thanks in advance!

A big problem is how are customers arriving to this landing page? Unless you set up redirects, or add links to every pages, etc then there’s no guarantee they will even see the message and will continue to try to checkout.
Along with any of the following approaches remember to turn off backend processes like auto acceptance of payments, auto-fulfillment, etc.
The simplest approach is to turn on password protection for the online storefront and modify the password templates messaging. Note that seo-bots cannot crawl your store when doing this.

There’s also pausing a store to prevent orders:
For messaging pause in tandem with changing the translation text strings of the theme for add to cart buttons from “Buy”,etc to “Not taking orders” or similar phrasing. Along with an announcement bar message.etc.
Next up in complexity is to just make an alternative page template that has a ‘continue’ button, or a custom-liquid section with the code for a button. Similar to the about-us or contact templates, and add that content to that page in the admin. Though again how do customers even arrive to this page in the first place?
More complex but allows you to switch out-of-town off and on is to duplicate a theme and go through and disable add-to-cart/checkout buttons,etc, update all the relevant messaging/text, etc.
An advanced customization wpuld be a duplicate theme replacing the contents of templates with content from another template such as the password template and disabling content_for_layout in theme.liquid.
