So I have this (left image) as a password page on my theme. However, when I open it from another device, I get the default Shopify password page (right image). How do I set it properly? Thank you!
Topic summary
Custom password page appeared correctly in the theme editor, but visitors on other devices saw Shopify’s default password page. A screenshot illustrated the discrepancy.
Key checks suggested:
- Publish the theme that contains the custom password page.
- Ensure the password page template/section is enabled and saved in Theme Customizer.
- Understand that editor preview differs from the live storefront; clearing cache on other devices may help.
- Consider disabling storefront password protection to view the site without admin access; this may require an active paid plan. Shopify docs for password protection and theme previews were shared.
Outcome: The issue was resolved when the poster realized they were not on a paid plan. After moving to an active paid plan, the setup worked.
Current status: Resolved. A closing note reiterated fully disabling storefront password protection (once on a paid plan) to ensure the intended design is shown across devices.
Thanks for reaching out! The issue happens because Shopify is still serving the default password page instead of the customized one in your theme. To fix this, make sure of the following:
1. Publish the theme that contains your custom password page.
Customizations only apply to the published theme.
2. Confirm the password page template is enabled.
In Online Store → Themes → Customize → Password Page, ensure your custom section and settings are saved.
3. Check theme editor vs. live view.
The theme editor preview will show the custom design, but visitors on other devices will only see it if the theme is live.
If your theme is already published, you may need to save the password template again or clear your browser cache on the other device.
Feel free to share a screenshot if you want me to confirm your setup!
Hi @makeitryl make the effort to post in the right forums this should have just been in general discussion.
To show the website without an admin account, Disable the storefront password protection to be able , this may require being on an actual paid plan.

Hi PaulNewton,
Thank you. I got it to working now. I thought I was already on the paid plan. It turned out I still wasn’t.
To ensure your custom password page shows correctly across all devices, please make sure the storefront password protection is fully disabled. You may need to be on an active paid Shopify plan for this option to be available. Once the protection is removed, your theme’s version of the page will display as intended.
