Password

Topic summary

A user is trying to add buttons on their Shopify password page that link to collection pages to preview upcoming products. However, clicking these buttons doesn’t navigate to the intended pages.

Core Issue:

  • When a password page is enabled in Shopify, it blocks access to all other store pages (collections, products, etc.) until visitors enter the correct password
  • Even with properly configured button links, Shopify’s default behavior prevents navigation

Proposed Solutions:

  • Embed collection sections directly on the password page (recommended by multiple respondents) rather than linking externally
  • Use JavaScript or modified URLs with password parameters to bypass the password page (requires custom development)

An example image shows how a collection section can be displayed directly within the password page layout, allowing preview without navigation.

Whenever I add buttons onto my password page to link it to my collection so when people are on my password page that can have a view at the upcoming clothes that will be coming but when you click the button it doesn’t bring me to the collection page please help me here I don’t know what to do

Hi @VividTees1 ,

When you have password page enabled, by default, you will not be able to go to any other pages of the store. Therefore, you cannot go to the collection page or any other page.

In my opinion, you should create section collections directly on the password page for this.

Hi, @VividTees1

The password page is a protected page that:

  • Blocks access to your storefront for visitors not logged in.
  • Prevents normal navigation to collection/product pages unless a password is entered.

So, even if your button has the correct link, Shopify will block access to the collection until the user enters the store password.

Hi @VividTees1 :waving_hand: depending on setup you’d need javascript or modifed urls to auto input the password as a parameter value so visitors can bypass the password page you’ve enabled.

Otherwise they just get a password page.

Hi @VividTees1

Instead of adding a button to redirect to the collection page. I think add a collection section on your page is better, like below
