Hi @autodroma
Thanks for reaching out here.
I understand that you have some questions about payment providers for your store, and in particular which ones do not require a ‘business permit’ to use them.
Can you please confirm where your store is located? When it comes to choosing a third-party payment provider, it is a good idea to consult with the list of available payment providers within your Shopify store region. You can use this link here to enter your region, and it will display a full list of all providers you can choose from.
Each payment provider may have different requirements and it is important to review their terms and conditions directly. As regulations and requirements may vary depending on your store location and the specific services that you require, it is recommended that you reach out to the payment providers directly for any questions regarding business permits or other requirements. We are not in a position to advise on the specific requirements of providers, however others here in the Community may be able to lend a hand and share their own experiences.
If you need some help with configuring a third-party payment provider on your store, then you can follow along with the instructions on our help center resources here. As mentioned above, contacting the payment provider directly would be a good idea also, as they will be in the best position to provide detailed instructions for using their payment gateway on Shopify.
Hi im in the philippines
Thanks for getting back to let me know you are based in the Philippines @autodroma
You can see the full list of available payment providers that you can choose from here. PayPal Express and 2Checkout would be some of the more popular gateways in your region. Many of these gateways should allow you to accept payments from customers worldwide through credit cards and other methods.
It’s important to remember to review the features, fees, and integration options of each payment provider to determine which one best suits your business needs. Speaking directly with the payment gateway will be a handy way of double checking the business permit requirement that you mentioned.
Additionally, if you are in any way concerned about the legal or financial requirements for your business, then it’s always a good idea to consult with a local expert or legal advisor to ensure compliance with any specific regulations in the Philippines.
Are you new to Shopify, and just setting up your store for the first time? We have an excellent YouTube tutorial video here that I would highly recommend checking out, as it contains a lot of helpful information and walks you through the setup process right from the start, all the way to being able to make your very first sale.
i cant use paypal as of now as they permanently limited my account.. can you use 2checkout for an unregistered business? im looking for a payment gateway that doesnt require business license or permits. stripe is also good but can i use it even when im in the philippines?
Hi @autodroma
I am sorry to hear about your issues with PayPal - that’s certainly not ideal, so I understand the need to find another gateway.
As mentioned in my previous replies, these gateways are external to Shopify, so we have no input or visibility regarding their account requirements. Therefore, I am not able to say for sure if a gateway would allow you to have an account without having a registered business or other verification documents.
I recommend reaching out to the payment providers directly to inquire about their specific requirements for unregistered businesses in the Philippines. They will be able to provide you with the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding their services and policies.
I do not see Stripe listed on the payment gateway page linked previously, so it would appear that it is not available in the Philippines and you will need to consider using another gateway.
