Hi
I hope you’re doing great.
I was surprised today to receive an email stating my payouts are on hold with a link to the admin page. When accessing, nothing appears, only a red banner with this message: Payouts are paused. Update Shopify Payments account details to resume payouts
I visited the Shopify payments settings, but I found no link or details to update. Everything seems normal. Please advise.
Thank you. Yes, I double-checked by accessing my Shopify dashboard directly I didn’t use the link in the email since I receive dozens of messages daily and have gotten used to ignoring them. However, it appears that my payouts are indeed on hold, with no clear reason or accessible resolution, which is quite confusing.
This message usually means Shopify needs you to reverify or update some details related to your Shopify Payments account — often due to verification issues or a recent policy/security review.
Here’s what you can do:
Check for any banners or alerts on your Shopify Home dashboard or Settings > Payments page — sometimes the required action is subtle or delayed in loading.
Go to Settings > Payments > Shopify Payments > Manage — scroll through the page and look for sections in red or any “Action required” notices (e.g., missing ID, address, or business info).
If nothing shows up and all seems normal, it’s best to contact Shopify Support directly via chat or email. They can check your account on the backend and guide you on the exact reason your payouts are paused.
I have been facing the same issue but this was appx 1 year ago, the reason was clearly specified: high rate of chargebacks. the hold has taken more than 2 weeks then lifted. and all back to normal until yesterday.
i got an email today saying “We have reached out to Stripe the payment processor for Shopify Payments and are awaiting further information as to why they have placed a hold on your payouts.”
hello Hossam, sorry i am reaching out again, but what else can i do? i been reaching out everyday for 11 days now, no emails from the “special team” and i have about $10k
