I’m new to Shopify and when my customers try to buy from my store the only way to pay is PayPal even though Shopify says that you can use multiple payment methods.
You’ll need to set up a payment provider on your store if you want to accept payments outside of PayPal. You can check out our help document for more information about payments on Shopify. To see which payment gateways are available to you, you can select your country on this page.
I also recommend checking out our 14 point checklist to launch your Shopify store. There are so many different things you have to set up when creating an online store, and this checklist can help make sure you don’t miss any details. It will help ensure you’re set up for success!
Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions!
I’m still having this problem. My store name is moksikrosi.xyz and when I am at the final page of the checkout it is only showing PayPal as a payment option. Is there any way to fix this issue?
Thanks for sharing your experience. Have you activated a credit card payment provider on your store yet? If you haven’t, PayPal will be the only option to appear at checkout. You can find the steps to add a payment provider in this help document.
Thanks for sending over those screenshots, that’s super helpful.
It does look like Stripe is correctly configured as your credit card provider. What you see in the second screenshot is your cart page with the option to check out, or to check out with PayPal. If your customer selects the first Check out option they’ll be taken to your checkout page where they can pay with their credit card through Stripe. The PayPal button is simply to offer a quicker way for your customers to check out if they want to use PayPal. They still have the option to check out as normal.
Removing the PayPal button from your cart page would require custom coding. If you feel comfortable with editing the code of your theme yourself, you could follow along with a tutorial like in this Community thread. Alternatively, you could hire a Shopify Expert to complete this coding change for you. Please note that advanced customizations such as this aren’t supported by Shopify, so we would not be able to guide you on how to get this done.
Another option would be to remove PayPal as a payment option on your store. If you don’t have a lot of customers that use PayPal, and you don’t want the branded checkout button to appear, doing this could be beneficial. You can disable PayPal as a payment option in your Shopify admin by navigating to Settings > Payments.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks for reaching out and sharing those screenshots. This is definitely a strange issue!
Something I’ve seen that has worked for other merchants is clicking the bell icon in the top right corner of your admin to see if there are any outstanding requirements for your Shopify Payments account (such as uploading documents to confirm your information).
If you don’t have any outstanding requests, I recommend getting in touch with our live support team through the Help Center so we can dig into this further. From there we can review your account and see if there are any issues on the back end.
Please let me know if you have any other questions or need help with getting in touch!
Thank you so much! I had to look for the notification for w while (as it was from a while back) to update the settings for Shopify payments, but it’s working now!
