So I got an order a while back however it said it was through PayPal. So I made a PayPal account with the same email address as my store and for some reason I still can’t collect my order. At the bottom it shows a collect payment button and when I push it all it does is ask for me to put my credit card number then it says charge? Why am I being charged and why can’t I collect my payment??
It sounds like your PayPal account isn’t properly linked to your Shopify store yet. PayPal Express Checkout automatically connects to the email you used for Shopify, but you still need to verify and link your PayPal account.
Here’s what to do:
- Check your PayPal setup – Log into PayPal and confirm that your account is fully set up and verified (business account required).
- Manually link PayPal to Shopify – Go to Shopify Admin > Settings > Payments, disconnect PayPal, then reconnect it using your verified PayPal business account.
- Check PayPal for pending payments – Sometimes, payments are held for review or require manual approval.
- Avoid clicking “Charge” – That button is for manual payment collection (for offline payments), not for withdrawing PayPal funds.
