Paypal Not Returning Billing Address Information

Hi there,

This past summer something changed with either Paypal or Shopify. If a customer chooses to use Paypal for their purchase, their billing address is auto-filled with the shipping address they enter. We are a gifting company so the billing and shipping addresses are almost always different. I get daily emails from customers who are concerned when their confirmations show the gift recipient’s address in the billing fields. Does anyone have a solution to this? Paypal and Shopify supports have not been helpful thus far.

I’m having this exact problem. We are also a gift company getting daily emails. It seems so reasonable that people are sending gifts and need the ability to add a separate shipping address. I’m about the pull the plug on Paypal. We are fielding so many customer concerns!

Same problem here. Victor from the Shopify team has submitted the request for this feature. Fingers crossed something happens soon!

I am having the same problem as well. Has anyone found a solution? I am assuming it has to do with some sort of privacy policy, but not sure.

Sadly, no resolution. I’ve been in contact with support several times and no luck.

We have been having this same issue with our site. Some (not sure why only some) Paypal payment orders have registered the ‘gift/shipping’ recipient address as the billing information and not the actual customer/user billing address. So frustrating! Did you find a solution? Which Shopify plan-version do you use? Which theme? …Please share any info you may have.

NO. The issue has not been resolved. It’s so basic. But causes so much turmoil for our customes thinking that people who are grieving their loved ones are going to get a bill for the gift that was sent to them.

Never resolved. Such a pain for everyone. We are on the “Shopify Small Teams plan.” I think theme is irrelevant as this happened on our old theme and our newer theme as well.
