PayPal offers no credit card option to customers

I have been using Paypal Checkout Express for quite some time now but today a customer alerted me that no credit card option is showing up.

My paypal account is Business.
My paypal account + shopify account are registered in a supported country.
Customer is trying to buy from a supported country.

Account settings > Website payments > Website preferences > PayPal account optional = On

I did try to Deactivate > Activate as described here :

I did add a credit card to my paypal account as instructed by this text:
With PayPal Express, the default is set to ask customers to log in to PayPal (or create a PayPal Account. You can enable guest payments to let customers pay with their credit card even if they don’t have their own PayPal account. To enable this feature, you need to have linked your own credit card to your PayPal business account.

What else should I try?

I have a similar situation. Did you manage to fix this problem?

yes, by switching to shopify payments. Shopify says paypal can’t do cc payments . Paypal says Shopify needs to change something in the code. Support from both is terrible. I suspect Shopify is trying to force everyone into shopify payments.
