Permissions Needed To Add Custom Pixel

Hi,

I have collaborator access to a Shopify store and I am trying to access the Customer Events tab in the settings in order to add a custom pixel. What permissions should I request from the store owner to be able to access this tab and add the custom pixel to their store?

To access the Customer Events tab in the settings of a Shopify store and add a custom pixel, you will need to have the “Customize theme” permission. This permission allows you to edit the theme files and add custom code to the store, including custom pixels.

There is no “Customize Theme” option in the permissions section (see screenshot) when requesting collaborator access to a managed store. Besides I can already edit theme code, so I guess this permission is already granted to me. Is there any other permission missing?

I apologize for the mistake in my previous message. While reading about customer events, I came across something interesting. According to the customer event article, pixels collect and pass behavioral customer data for marketing and reporting purposes. Therefore, you may need to grant permissions for Marketing and Reports if you want to try using customer events. I am not aware of any official documentation on this topic.

No luck either. I have the same problem. All collaborator permissions applied but still no access to Custom Pixel. Is it possible that this is only available to shop owners?

If you received all the permissions and still do not see access to Custom Pixel then there are high chance of it being only available to shop owners. The best way to find out is to reach out to Shopify support directly.

I will post here if I find anything related to the same.

Just checked the permission and now Shopify added a new set of permission for pixel.

I’ve successfully used this before however for a new store the customer events options have vanished…

Any ideas??

We are having the same issue here. We need access to the custom pixel urgently but we don’t see the option on the permissions checkbox list. Please help!

Same issue here. We built our custom pixels in the DEV store, but can’t roll them out to production now.

Ye so basically for some reason the permissions are now only visible on their client’s end. So you need to request as normal and then get them to go into users > colaborators, find the customer events perms and add

For anyone having the same issue: This solution worked. Shop Owners have to check two additional boxen when they accept the collaborator access.
