I’m currently experiencing an issue with my Shopify website, where every time a customer clicks to go to another page within the website, a message pops up saying “Leave site? Changes you made may not be saved.” This is not a web browser issue, as every customer receives it. The last update done on the website was a popup from Omnisend. This has now been disabled, but the “Leave Site” popup still shows up. Has anyone had this issue before or has any guidance on how to fix it?
Topic summary
A Shopify store owner reports that customers encounter a “Leave site? Changes you made may not be saved” browser warning when navigating between pages on their site. This affects all visitors across different browsers, indicating it’s not a client-side issue.
Suspected cause: The problem appeared after installing an Omnisend popup. While the popup has been disabled, the warning persists.
Troubleshooting attempts:
- Another user offered to inspect the site code at wildharvestco.com.au
- The helper could not replicate the issue, suggesting it may be browser-specific or intermittent
Current status: The problem remains unresolved with no clear solution identified. The warning typically indicates JavaScript detecting unsaved form changes, suggesting residual code from the Omnisend integration may still be triggering the browser’s native alert.
One commenter expressed frustration about this type of technical issue affecting business operations, though their concern appears more general rather than experiencing the same specific problem.
It would be something to do with your code I would assume. What is your URL and I can take a look. It is definitely something that can be fixed.
Thanks for your help Beauxbreaux! It’s www.wildharvestco.com.au
Hello,
I am having trouble replicating the issue. Is it now fixed? If it is still showing up for you, what browser are you using?
I am very upset about this because now this means that I need to find another website carrier because I just will not deal with this bull I’m sorry I really had hoped that I finally found a wonderful home website for myself because I do own a business and need a website but I am so disappointed to see that this is not going to work out luckily I got the $1 deal to see if it’s going to work I don’t understand why Shopify will just not disable that feature get rid of it completely as it is causing horrible misfortune and inconvenience to people who are just trying to operate their businesses I am really glad that it happened before I launched my website before I loaded a whole bunch of information into a wasted my time cuz I’ve done this to other times wasted my time creating a website that didn’t go anywhere because either the pages did not get indexed by the Google console or something else had happened and I’m so glad that I did not put a lot of time into this only to find out that I cannot use Shopify this is a very very sad thing for Shopify they really need to work on it
