Hello - I am looking to pre-fill my customers’ baskets on my shopify shop. Baskets may be different from customer to customer and customers should be able to modify their basket, removing what they don’t want and adding extra products from the rest of the shop. Is that possible on shopify and if so, what s the best way forward? Thanks1

Pre-filled customizable baskets sound like a fantastic way to really increase your revenue! However, Shopify only allows products to be added to the cart individually.
Just to share with you, there are a lot of third-party apps out there that offer a feature where your customers can build their own baskets! One app I have personal experience with is the BoxBuilder: DIY Product Bundle.
How this would work is you can create unique collections for each of your baskets, and BoxBuilder will allow your customers to select which items they want to include in their orders. You can also set minimum and maximum product selections and a fixed price per basket.
What I love about this app is the customizable form feature which allows the customers to add notes, messages, dates, and upload pictures. It really helps them express their thoughts when they’re creating a unique gift!

Many thanks for your reply, this is incredibly useful. I’ve checked BoxBuilder but my understanding is that its main feature is to allow the creation of gift boxes that each customer can personalise - and this is not really what I am trying to achieve, apologies if my earlier message wasn’t clear.
I am looking for a feature whereby I can create for each of my customer a different basket, filled with items I have preselected myself. The customer should then be able to check the basket and remove/add items as they want. Do you know of a third-party app I could use for this?
I note your comment that “Shopify only allows products to be added to the cart individually” - what do you mean?

BoxBuilder’s main feature is to allow the customers to build their own custom bundle/box/basket. And I understand you’re looking for a feature where you can do this for your customer before sending it to them to either checkout or customize before checkout.
As a workaround, if you’re using BoxBuilder, you can create a preselected collection of products, and the customer will decide if they want to add all the items from that bundle or not. Here’s an example I created for you: https://box-builder-demo-store.myshopify.com/apps/builder/pre-made-basket

I looked into different apps for pre-made bundles and found Fast Bundle | Product Bundles which allows you to create bundles that let customers select or deselect specific products from the bundle. To be sure if this is what you’re looking for, I suggest reaching out to them or using the app.
For that last question, it means that Shopify doesn’t offer product bundling. So, for example, if a customer wants a makeup kit, they would have to search all the makeup products they wish to include and add each to their cart before proceeding to the checkout. Unlike in bundles where a collection of products can be added all together in the cart, minimizing the effort of the customer.

The boxbundle example you created for me works well. I note that for items that have variants, the customer needs to select the variant and then confirm that it has to go in the basket. While I understand that products that have no variant can be automatically uploaded on the basket so the customer can just scroll through and validate the entire basket (as opposed to having to validate each item one by on). Is this right? Asking because we will likely create pre-filled baskets with 20/25 items and so don’t want our customers to lose time going one by one.

Yes it can be done. Shopify cart permalinks or custom app script to build pre-filled carts. You can generate unique URLs for each customer including product variants and quantities. Once they open the link, the cart is preloaded, and they can edit the items as much as they want before checking out. Perfect for customizable bundles.
