Pinterest Ads

Topic summary

A dropshipping store owner is experiencing high traffic from Pinterest ads but minimal conversions (sales or add-to-carts) over three weeks. Despite claiming a well-optimized product page for an astronaut phone stand, they’re questioning whether the traffic might be bots rather than genuine buyers.

Key concern: Traffic volume is strong, but engagement and sales are not following.

Community response suggests:

  • Pinterest users typically browse earlier in the purchase journey and convert more slowly than other platforms
  • The issue likely stems from intent mismatch between ad messaging and product page, rather than product quality
  • Bot traffic is unlikely if visits are consistent, but high bounce rates or low time-on-site could indicate poor targeting or low-quality traffic

Status: The discussion remains open with an offer to review the sales funnel and targeting strategy for potential improvements.

Has anyone had any success running Pinterest ads to their ecommerce store? I say this because for the past 3 weeks of running Pinterest ads to my dropshipping store I have had tons of store visits but barely any sales or add to carts to say the least. Now I have a very optimised product page, strong offers, a good product so it really confuses me as why I am barely getting any sales despite have a very optimised product page.

Is it possible that the traffic from Pinterest could be mostly coming bots instead of real legitimate people, hence why I haven’t had any sales yet?

I get where you’re coming from; it’s super frustrating to get a ton of Pinterest traffic with barely any conversions. Pinterest users are usually earlier in the buying journey, so while they do browse a lot, they’re slower to buy. It’s not always a product issue; it could be an intent mismatch between your ad and your product page.

It’s unlikely the traffic is bots if you’re seeing consistent visits, but if the bounce rate is super high or time on site is really low, it could be low-quality traffic or poor targeting.

Happy to take a look at your funnel or offer if you want a second opinion, just let me know.
