When you create a link when customizing the home page, you can select from pages, products, collections, blogs etc. When you create a link on a custom page, product etc. you can only paste in the URL. Please make the ability to select from a list consistent across the platform.

Can you tell me a bit more about how you are setting up your links? Are you doing this within your theme editor? Which theme are you currently using?
If you are using your theme editor you should have the ability to select from a list of applicable links like you do on your home page. I tested this out in my test store using the theme, Dawn, and I was able to select from a list for the links I tried. If it is a generic button you should see the option to choose from Collections, Products, Pages, etc. However, if you are trying to set up a link on a “Featured product”, for example, you would only have the option to choose from your products. That being said, it would still be displayed in list form once you click where it says “Paste a link or search”.
If you try that out and you still aren’t seeing the list appear let me know! I’d be happy to test it out with the theme you are using and troubleshoot this further.

Thank you for those screenshots and that context. Editing Collections, Products, Blogs and Pages within the Shopify Admin uses a typical rich text editor format so in these areas we’ve kept creating links in line with the way it’s typically done with other rich text editors.
That being said, I appreciate your feedback and I’ve gone ahead and shared this recommendation with our team who look into improvements that can be made to Shopify. I completely understand how the option to select from a list here would be beneficial.
In those screenshots I also noticed that you are using the theme Debut, which is a vintage theme. If you are looking for more customization abilities I would recommend taking a look at using an Online Store 2.0 theme instead. These themes have many added benefits such as allowing you to use sections and blocks to create all pages of your website. Thanks … makes sense. We are a bit nervous about migrating to 2.0 themes, but will plan to do it in the next couple of months.
