Please review my new website.

Topic summary

A Shopify store owner selling heirloom children’s wear is experiencing low sales despite good traffic and seeks feedback on their website (monmarceau.com).

Primary Issues Identified:

  • Color Contrast Problems: Multiple reviewers highlighted poor text readability due to insufficient contrast between text and background colors, particularly affecting navigation menus and mobile usability
  • Homepage Layout: Lacks immediate product visibility; suggestions include adding collection cards, promotional sections (“Best Sellers,” “New Arrivals”), and social proof elements like customer reviews

Product Page Recommendations:

  • Shorten lengthy descriptions using bullet points (max 3)
  • Display “compare at” prices to leverage anchor bias
  • Reposition AfterPay messaging closer to “Add to Cart” button
  • Add promotional banners with clear call-to-action buttons

Additional Suggestions:

  • Enhance search bar functionality with larger product images and pricing
  • Include size guides to reduce returns
  • Add quick “Add to Cart” and wishlist buttons on product listings
  • Consider bundling products (e.g., books with clothing items)
  • Verify digital marketing targets the correct audience

Reviewers provided visual examples and reference sites demonstrating recommended improvements. The discussion remains open for implementation.

I recently launched my website for my heirloom children’s wear business on Shopify. While I’ve had a good number of visitors, sales have been low. I’m wondering if there might be any issues or aspects my site is lacking that I’m not aware of. I would appreciate any advice or feedback you might have.

Hi @MonMatelier

The first thing I’ve notice is the background and color contrast.

The text color is unreadable. Smaller icons on the mobile, hard to touch.

I hope this helps.

Hi @MonMatelier , I think the color of the menu item should be more prominent so people can see the text easier.

Hope this can help you

Hey!

Firstly, congratulations on the launch! :tada:

I went through your store, and you’ve done a fantastic job with the design concept, but there are a few areas where you could make improvements to elevate the user experience and optimize for conversions. Here’s some constructive feedback:

Home Page Layout:

  1. Add Collection Cards: Show smaller collection product cards right on the homepage. It will give visitors a quick glance at what your store has to offer. Customers relate more when they immediately see product variants that interest them.

  2. Social Proof & USPs: Adding a section with testimonials or reviews (social proof) will build trust. Also, highlight your Unique Selling Propositions (USPs), such as your craftsmanship or free shipping, to make visitors stay and explore.

Product Pages:

  1. Reduce Text: The product description section seems a bit long. Consider shortening it with bullet points (max 3 points) to make it more digestible.

  2. Compare at Price: You’re missing out on using anchor bias! Display “compare at prices” throughout your store to make it look like users are getting a better deal.

  3. Highlight Offers: If you’re running offers, make them stand out on the product page. It’s a great way to attract more clicks on the “Add to Cart” button.

  4. After Pay Positioning: Since you already have After Pay, it would be a good idea to display it closer to the “Add to Cart” button. It reassures shoppers about payment flexibility and could encourage them to purchase sooner.

  5. Add Payment Icons: Adding payment method icons (e.g., Visa, MasterCard, PayPal) on the product pages builds trust with your customers and gives them a sense of security when purchasing.

Collection Pages:

  1. Background Color: The background on your collection page cards is too overpowering, distracting from the products themselves. Opt for a lighter tone to make the products pop.

  2. Congestion Issue: The layout feels congested, making it hard for customers to focus. Try adding more space between the product cards to make it more breathable.

  3. Compare at Price: Again, displaying compare at prices on collection pages can help customers quickly see what deals they’re getting.

Site-Wide Color Contrast:

I noticed the color contrast across the site, particularly the text on light backgrounds (like white on pastel colors), makes readability a bit challenging. Consider increasing the contrast between text and background for a better user experience.

Final Thoughts:

If you want further inspiration, feel free to check out the kids’ store we recently worked on, mamaandpeaches.com. We made it more playful, added relevant elements, and improved conversion rate optimization (CRO). I’m confident it will give you some fresh ideas!

I hope these suggestions help improve your store and boost conversions! Feel free to reach out if you need any more assistance.

Cheers!

Hi @MonMatelier ,

I’m from Mageplaza, a Shopify solution expert.

I would be glad to review your website and provide feedback on improving its performance. Below are some suggestions to enhance website performance:

1. Adding Promotional Sections on the Home Page:

Featuring sections like “Best Sellers” and “On Sale”, New arrivals on the homepage can drive attention to popular and discounted products, encouraging visitors to engage more with your site. Here is a reference:

2. Improving the Search Bar Functionality

Enhancing the search bar’s functionality with larger images and showing pricing can help users quickly find the products they are looking for, improving the overall shopping experience. Here is a reference:

3. Adding a Customer Review Section

Displaying customer reviews can build trust and provide social proof, helping potential buyers make informed decisions. Here is a reference:

4. Providing Detailed Product Information (Size Chart, Materials, etc.)

Including product details such as size charts, material composition, and care instructions can give customers more confidence in their purchases, reducing potential returns or dissatisfaction.

5. Adding Add-to-Cart (ATC) and Wishlist Buttons to You may also like

Making it easy for customers to add items to their cart or wish list directly from product lists can streamline the purchasing process and improve conversion rates.

6. Adding promotional banner

You should add seasonal banners for current promotions or collections (e.g., Summer Sale, Winter Collection) to catch the attention of customers. Additionally, you should add ATC, Shop now or add to the wish list buttons to encourage customers to buy your products. Here is a reference:

I hope my suggestions are helpful, feel free to give me any feedback.

Good luck!
