Pointing a second domain to Shopify store

I currently have two Shopify stores on two different and independent domains . I want to close the second store but retain the corresponding domain name and point it to my my other store I plan on keeping and continuing.

so how do I go about doing this? Can I do this? And if so, how?

And both domains are currently on Shopify so not a third party domain situation but I want to point the second domain to my first store, renew my second domain but close the Shopify store currently on it.

Appreciate a detailed response from a Shopify expert on the subject. Thanks

Hello @Miss_Stripewell

You need to connect your second domain with the store and then create Shopify markets to use it. This way you can have two domains pointing to the same store with different currency and language (Considering to create Bilingual store).

Thanks for the reply.

I have markets created already on my first site. Why do I need to create separate markets for my second domain when all I want to do is point it to my other store that has its own domain?

it is not a country specific domain. Both are.com domains and both are Shopify domains. I just want to close the second store and keep the domain and point it to my other store as a second domain so all my traffic from my second store gets redirected to my other store which I plan on keeping.

I don’t want to create different currency and all that. Perhaps you misread my question.

i just want to close my second shop, retain the domain name and point it to my first store. I know I have to add the second domain as an additional domain on “ Manage Domains” on my first store but wondering if I have to do anything else like changing the CNAME and redirect and all that on my second store before I close it.

i’ll wait for a more suitable answer that fits my needs. Thanks for the reply.
