POS cards are being declined

Is anyone else running into this issue. Started today at about 12pm - a card payment I take (except for manual entry) is declined. The error message reads: “Payment declined. There was an issue with Shopify and the payment couldn’t be processed” - Is this a developer issue? How can I fix this?

The same thing is happening in Red Hook, NY too. This is very frustrating, especially on a Sunday.

The fact that it’s a Sunday is driving us crazy!! We are slammed and can’t take cards :disappointed_face:

Yep! We are at a craft fair that ends in a couple of hours and are turning away business because of this!

We do have a current incident that is affecting Shopify Payments and POS. We are sincerely apologetic about this and I can assure you that our developers are actively working on a fix for this. You can see this on our Status page as well

Entering the card manually seems to be a work-around (Thank you, SBreslin!)

Yes, gladly, it seems to be working again. It didn’t last too long in my case, but it was frustrating. This reminded me once again to check the Status page regularly.

Yes and it has been still happening randomly yesterday and today. I spoke with Shopify and they can not reverse the pending authorization on the customers accounts with their bank either so those funds are tied up for 3-7 days even if the transaction did not go through. The one positive is we can not get a charge back because they were never charged
