I was wondering what any US stores might be using to round their cash transactions in the POS? We are concerned about the penny shortage and what to go ahead and get prepared.
I have already had to implement a work around because the banks are no longer issuing pennies. I did a lot of research and found that while Shopify (apparently) enables automatic rounding for cash transactions in some other countries, it has not in the US and as far as I could tell, has no plans to implement while pennies remain legal tender in the US - even though pennies are no longer being made. As a result we had to change our entire pricing structure for instore transactions to ensure that the totals will be round numbers and not require pennies, and this includes how we handle discounts. A LOT of work to set this up, maintain it as new products or variants are launched, and to explain new pricing to customers. Shopify really needs to do a better job of supporting POS customers.
