POS - Selecting B2B Companies as Customers

Topic summary

Main issue: B2B merchants want Shopify POS (Point of Sale) to use and display the company name as the customer on in-store transactions, rather than an individual contact name.

Current capability: Merchants report this is not currently possible in POS. The only option is a workaround in Shopify Admin, which is described as cumbersome for day-to-day retail use.

Impact: Limits effective servicing of walk-in B2B customers in brick‑and‑mortar locations and undermines operational efficiency and professionalism at checkout.

Requested update: Native POS support to select the B2B company account as the customer entity and surface the company name on sales/receipts.

Status: No confirmation that this feature exists or is planned. Merchants indicate they have raised this for months without resolution. The discussion remains open with an unanswered question about roadmap or timeline.

We run our Shopify store as a purely B2B operation, but we also have B2B walk-in customers. Ideally, we’d like to use the POS system and have the company name appear instead of the customer’s name when processing sales. Is this functionality currently possible? If not, is it something planned for future updates?

Thank you!

We’ve reported this for months. It’s a major failing that we cannot, essentially, service our B2B customers that come into our brick and mortar stores through POS. We have to follow Shopify’s clunky workaround in Admin which is really bush-league.
