Possible Fraud on a shopify website

There is a website that uses Shopify called ShopAlexJones dot com. This website is likely involved in bankruptcy and liquidation fraud.

There is a web site that uses Shopify that may be involved in fraud. Alex Jones’ Infowars was shut down this week for one day because the Onion won the liquidation auction bid. There were two bidders and one of them is referenced in this section. That other bidder appears to be a shell company set up by Alex to buy his own company back for himself. That shell company is propped up by a web site that is powered by Shopify.

I was interested so I had a look and this URL doesn’t look like it uses Shopify, the URL structure is different. There is no /collections/all page for instance, and the URLs end in .PHP which also doesn’t look like Shopify. If you search the HTML in dev tools, you also don’t find any Shopify-related URLs like a *.myshopify.com URL or any Shopify CDN URLs. I also checked the wayback machine to check the URL and it doesn’t seem like they used Shopify at any point, and they had their first cached page in August.

You can run sites through builtwith.com to see what technologies they use, and report a merchant that you suspect of being in violation of the Shopify terms of service (sketchy af) here. Cheers!
