Possible input of the current_total_additional_fees_set API-endpoint

Topic summary

Main question: Clarification on whether Shopify’s current_total_additional_fees_set API endpoint includes only payment processing costs or can also contain other fees added by apps (e.g., packing services, disposal fees).

Context: A standard integration is being built between Shopify and a separate POS system. The endpoint’s value is planned to map to the POS “payment costs” field, so semantic alignment is critical.

Key ask: Confirm if the endpoint strictly returns payment costs, or if it may return a combination of payment and non-payment additional fees.

Status: No answers or decisions yet; the inquiry remains open with the scope of the endpoint unresolved.

Dear community,

We’re developing a standard integration for multiple clients between Shopify and another POS system. Now we’re wondering if the current_total_additional_fees_set API-endpoint can only recieve / include payment costs or also other costs that are for example added with an additional app. We imagine this could be for things like additional packing services or a disposal fee for example.

We’re connecting this field to the “payment costs” field in the POS and want to be sure the data and intention of the data are the same in both systems. So basically, do we know for sure if this endpoint only gives back the actual payment costs or could it could also return other costs and/or a combination of both payment and other costs?

We would love to hear from you!
