Practical Tests for assessing a Shopify Developer's skills

We are hiring a Shopify Developer for both frontend & backend development (with more focus on the frontend side) to join our in-office team.

We are looking to give 2 practical tests for Front End and 2 for backend using a development store.

What kind of practical tests can we give them to test their skills? Any suggestions?

  1. Theme Customization:

    • Request the candidate to modify a Shopify theme using Liquid, HTML, and CSS to achieve a specific layout or design.

  2. Responsive Design:

    • Ask the candidate to create a responsive section or page that adapts well to different screen sizes.

For Backend:

  1. Custom App Development:

    • Task the candidate with creating a small Shopify app using Shopify’s API to perform a specific function.

  2. Data Management:

    • Have the candidate import/export data using Shopify Admin API or manipulate data using GraphQL.

Ensure the tests align with your specific project requirements and focus on real-world scenarios the candidate might encounter in their role.

Thanks @ProtoMan44 ..BTW what development environment or software should we provide the candidates for these tests?

@jain1980 Nothing special, on the partner account of Shopify create and share a sandbox with him/her to openly perform his/her skill.
