Hi everyone! I’m running into a bit of a confusing situation and was wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar.
My store’s default language is pt-BR, but I wanted to enable Shopify’s native search suggestion, which, from what I’ve seen, only works when the primary language is set to “en”.
I changed the theme language to “en,” and the search suggestion feature started working as expected. However, a new issue came up: the login page for email confirmation remains completely in English. I’ve managed to translate the rest of the store, but this specific page refuses to cooperate. I reached out to Shopify support and was told that, as of now, this page is not translatable.
What’s confusing is that the Havaianas, which also uses Shopify, seems to use the same native search suggestion feature, has the entire site in pt-BR, and displays the login page fully translated.
How is that possible? Some kind of custom implementation? Enterprise-only feature? High-level sorcery?
You’re right that Shopify’s native predictive search (and some other features) are tied closely to the theme language being set to English, which creates an odd clash when your storefront needs to be in another language like pt-BR.
As for the login/email confirmation page — yes, unfortunately, Shopify currently doesn’t expose that specific page for translation via the theme editor or translation apps, which is why you’re seeing it stuck in English.
Now, regarding Havaianas — that’s a really interesting case. Large brands like them are often on Shopify Plus, and they tend to have access to more customization options:
Custom apps or middleware: They might be using a custom login experience that bypasses Shopify’s default authentication page.
Hydrogen/Headless setup: Some brands go headless and build the entire front-end (including login flows) themselves, giving them full control over every element, language included.
Private Shopify APIs: Plus merchants sometimes get access to APIs or early features not generally available.
So it’s probably not sorcery — just enterprise perks and a team of developers behind the scenes.
That said, you can sometimes mimic this kind of experience by using a custom login page via an app or headless approach, but it does require extra development.
You’re right—Shopify’s native search suggestions only work when the store’s primary language is set to English, which unfortunately forces system pages like the login/email confirmation to stay in English too.
Havaianas is likely using Shopify Plus or a custom/headless setup, which allows more control over translations—even for those system pages.
Sadly, for non-Plus stores, there’s no native way to translate that page (yet). Hopefully Shopify adds support soon!
Hey @oscprofessional , Thanks for the reply.
Actually, the company I work for is also on Shopify Plus — and unfortunately, even with Plus, it doesn’t seem possible to translate that specific system page (login/email confirmation)
You’re right—even on Shopify Plus, the login/email confirmation page isn’t translatable yet since it’s part of Shopify’s core system pages. Hopefully they open it up soon!
Olá @Dotsquares , obrigado pela resposta.
I believe they probably have some kind of dedicated support or a custom solution for their store, because here at the company I work for we also use Shopify Plus, and so far I haven’t had access to this kind of functionality.
