Using the customerActivateByUrl method, customers are emailed by Shopify a “Welcome to !” email. Can this email be prevented?

Unfortunately, the “Welcome to !” email that is sent to customers is a default email that is automatically sent by Shopify, it’s not possible to prevent it from being sent to customer.
However, you have a few options to mitigate this:
- Customize the email template: You can customize the email template that is sent to customers by going to: “Settings” > “Notifications” > “Customer account welcome.” Here you can edit the email text and design to make it more consistent with your store’s branding and messaging.
- Use a different email verification method: Instead of using the customerActivateByUrl method, you can use a different method to verify customer email addresses that doesn’t trigger the “Welcome to !” email. For example, you can use a form on your website that asks customers to verify their email addresses by clicking a link sent to their email.
