Price tags and language appear as top keywords

Topic summary

A Shopify store using the Cornerstone theme reports that SEO tools are flagging prices and language terms as top keywords, outranking their intended target keywords. The goal is to prioritize selected keywords in search relevance.

One respondent recommends standard SEO (Search Engine Optimization) practices:

  • Place main keywords in the title tag, meta description, H1/H2 headers, and the first paragraph.
  • Limit the prominence of prices and language labels so they don’t dominate keyword frequency.
  • Add target keywords to image filenames and alt text.

The store owner confirms these steps are already implemented and asks whether this is a recurring Shopify behavior or potentially caused by an app. They seek clarification on platform-level or app-related causes.

No definitive cause or fix is identified yet. The thread remains open with the key question unanswered: is the keyword skew due to Shopify/theme behavior or an installed app?

A screenshot of the keyword analysis is referenced and appears central to understanding the observed rankings.

Hi,

We are using Conerstone theme. When checking the keywords for SEO, I noticed that our top keywords were the prices and the languages, and our selected keywords appears second. Is there a way to fix this issue ?

Thanks

Hi @Laurine1

Here are some of my suggestions that can possibly fix this:

  • Ensure your main keywords appear in crucial places like the title tag, meta description, headers (H1, H2), and the starting paragraph of your content.
  • Use prices and languages sparingly so they don’t overshadow your main keywords.
  • Incorporate your keywords in image titles and alt text.

I hope that this helps!

Thank you Onemobile. I already do the things you listed, so I’m wondering if it was a recurring issue with Shopify or if it could be an app issue?

thanks for your help
